Dayton is the site of Nevada’s earliest settlement, originally populated by prospectors & settlers attracted by gold and the Carson River flowing nearby.
Old Town Dayton was the setting for several well-known movies including The Misfits (1961 - Clark Gable and Marilyn Monroe), Charlie Varrick (1973 - Walter Matthau) and Honky Tonk Man (1982 - Clint Eastwood).
Many more were filmed in nearby Carson City and Virginia City.
Js’ Bistro is located at the corner of Pike & Main Streets, next to the settlers route known as the the Emigrant Trail and the historic Dayton Train Depot - currently
under restoration by the Dayton Historic Society.
Old Town Dayton is now home to 4 restaurants, each proudly aware of it’s historic Western heritage: Js’ Old Town Bistro, The Gold Canyon Steakhouse & Wild Horse Saloon, Chuck’s
Old West Grill and Compadres Mexican Restaurant. Diners now visit the narrow streets where covered wagons once rolled, settlers and miners mixed it up in the saloons.
